APRIL SHOWERS BRING MAY SHOWERS Meaning: Something good may happen as a result of unpleasant events. Many of life’s greatest things come only to those who wait, and by patiently and happily enduring the clouds and damp of April you can find yourself more easily able to take in the sights and smells of May.
Origin: The proverb has been traced back to about 1557 in a Poem by Thomas Tusser, A Hundred Good Points of Husbandry, April Husbandry.
